Attendance & RSVP Policy
Attendance

For events and build sessions that require RSVP, please register in advance so we can prepare enough components, workspace, and food. If you can no longer attend, cancel your spot at least 24 hours before the event so it can be offered to someone on the waitlist. No-shows to paid events may forfeit their registration fee. Drop-in attendance is welcome at open meetups — just check the group chat for the latest headcount updates.

Workshop & Lab Safety
Safety

Safety is non-negotiable in any space where soldering, power tools, or mains voltage are present. Always wear safety glasses when soldering or cutting. Soldering irons must be returned to their stands when not in hand and must be switched off before leaving your station. Do not work on live mains circuits alone — always have a second person present. Lithium batteries must be charged on a fireproof surface and never left unattended. If you are unsure about any procedure, ask before you act. Members who repeatedly disregard safety guidelines may be asked to leave the session.

Community Conduct
Conduct

Siam Deck is a welcoming space for makers of all backgrounds and skill levels. Treat every member with respect — beginner questions are as valid as advanced ones. Do not talk down to others or gatekeep knowledge. Harassment, discrimination, or hostile behavior of any kind will not be tolerated and may result in removal from the community. Healthy debate about technology, tools, and design choices is encouraged — personal attacks are not. We are here to build things together.

Shared Tools & Equipment
tools

Shared tools are a privilege. Return every tool to its designated place after use, in the same or better condition. If you break or damage a shared tool, report it immediately — accidents happen, but hiding damage is not acceptable. Do not take shared tools or components home without explicit permission from the session organizer. Consumables such as solder, flux, heat shrink, and jumper wires are provided at sessions but should not be taken in bulk. Members who consistently misuse or damage shared equipment may have their access to communal tools revoked.

Components & Parts
components

Components provided at build sessions are for use during that session. Take only what your project requires. If you bring your own components to swap or donate, label them clearly with your name and any relevant specs. Siam Deck is not responsible for personal components lost, damaged, or borrowed without your consent at events. We encourage a culture of sharing — bring extra parts when you can, and the community will return the favor.

Project Sharing & Open Source
projects

We strongly encourage members to share their projects, schematics, firmware, and build logs with the community — via our Discord, GitHub organization, or at show-and-tell sessions. You are never obligated to open-source your work, but knowledge shared here grows the whole community. If you build on or adapt another member's work, give credit. If you build on open-source work from outside the community, respect the original license terms.

Communication Channels
Communication

Primary day-to-day communication happens on our Discord server. Event announcements and RSVPs are managed through the Siam Deck platform. The LINE group is used for quick Thai-language updates and local logistics. Do not use group channels to advertise products or services without prior approval from the Lead Maker. For project help, use the appropriate project channel rather than direct-messaging individuals unless they have offered. Constructive feedback on other members' work is welcome — unsolicited criticism outside a review context is not.

Photo & Media Policy
Photo/Media

Photos and videos may be taken at Siam Deck events for documentation, social media, and community promotion. If you do not wish to be photographed, inform the session organizer at the start of the event and we will respect your preference. Photos of members' projects may be shared publicly on Siam Deck channels — if your project is confidential or pre-release, let the photographer know before they post. Never photograph another member's work in detail without their explicit consent.

Venue & Hosting
venue

Siam Deck events are hosted in various member spaces, makerspaces, and community venues across Bangkok and Thailand. Treat every host venue with care — clean up your workspace thoroughly, dispose of waste correctly (especially solder fumes, chemical flux, and battery waste), and leave the space better than you found it. Follow any additional rules set by the venue host. Members who damage or disrespect a host venue may be asked to cover repair costs and may be barred from future events.
